Very Rev. Fr. Boghos Tinkjian
 

Under the auspices of His Holiness Catholicos Aram I, Very Rev. Fr. Boghos Tinkjian has been sent to serve in the Prelacy of the Eastern United States. The Religious and Lay Councils of the Executive Council appointed Very Rev. Fr. Boghos the Pastor of All Saints Church in Glenview, Illinois. On February 20, 2022, His Eminence Archbishop Anoushavan, Prelate, presented Fr. Boghos to the community and the newly appointed pastor officiated his first Divine Liturgy.

 

Very Rev. Fr. Boghos (baptismal name Serj) Tinkjian was born in Aleppo on June 29, 1990. He received his elemental education at the Mekhitarist School of Aleppo and in the academic year 2003-2004 he enrolled at the Seminary of the Holy See of the Great House of Cilicia to further his studies, graduating in 2011 and being ordained to the priesthood and getting renamed Boghos. Fr. Boghos was then appointed assistant to the Head Librarian of the “Cilicia” library of the Catholicosate. In 2012 he became the dean's assistant at the Theological Seminary while also teaching Armenian Church Hymns.

 

At the end of the 2012-2013 academic year, he moved to the United States to serve the Western Prelacy and continue his studies at the Fuller Theological Seminary. He was ordained Vartabed in July 2015. 

 

​Upon receiving the degree of Master of Arts in Theology, with an emphasis in Biblical Studies, Fr. Boghos returned to the Catholicosate, where he taught Bible Greek and Hebrew as well as History of Theology of Religions. In 2016, he was appointed dean of the Theological Seminary for 4 academic school years. Upon writing his thesis, Fr. Boghos was elevated to the rank of Archimandrite in April 2021. At the same time, he was elected secretary of the Religious Council of the Central Executive Committee of the Catholicosate, while also teaching Religion and Armenian Classical Literature at Levon and Sophia Hagopian College and the Unified School of Beirut.

 

He has also been appointed representative of the Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia to the committee for the theological dialogue of Catholic-Orthodox churches, as well as Armenian Church representative to the committee of the Bible Society of Lebanon and Syria.
